Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

This Level 2 qualification covers the technical needs for today's motor vehicle repair industry. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots. It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:

  • Light Vehicle Engine Systems
  • Light Vehicle Fuel Systems
  • Light Vehicle Electrical Systems
  • Light Vehicle Chassis Systems
  • Light Vehicle Transmission Systems
  • Skills in Materials, Fabrication and Tools Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage. Enrichment Activities - The students will have an opportunity to visit trade shows / exhibitions to liaise with employers and see the latest with employers and see the latest technology in the Motor Industry.
  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject.

    Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English, or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.

  • Additional Information


    This is a hands-on course in a workshop so you'll need overalls and boots to do the course safely. If you don't have your own, you can buy overalls and boots from the College. Your tutors will give you more information on this.
