International Office – Personal Support
Studying overseas can be a challenge but you won’t be alone. At Kingston College the International Office staff can help you with a range of support services throughout the year. We not only want you to enjoy your academic experience but also want to help you enjoy your overall experience in the UK.
Admission Process
From your first enquiry to enrolling on your chosen course, we will
advise and guide you. We pride ourselves on our high quality
customer service. You can apply on line or via an application form
(see International Applications section). You will need to submit
your High School and/or other academic certificates, an academic
reference from a tutor or recent employer and an IELTS certificate
or comparable English Language Certificate. Once we receive your
application form with the supporting documentation it will be sent
to the course tutor for assessment. Having all your documents
together with your application will help speed up the process for
assessing your application. The sooner you receive your offer
letter, the sooner you can start making arrangements and plans to
come and study at Kingston College.
Student Visa
Once we have received your
tuition fee deposit we will send you a confirmation letter. Both
the offer letter and confirmed place letter will support your
application to apply for an Entry Clearance visa to the UK. Once
you are in the UK we can help you with visa extensions.
Pre-Arrival Booklet
When we confirm your place at Kingston College, we will provide you
with a pre-arrival booklet. The information in this booklet will
help you prepare for your journey to Kingston College and offers
other information regarding your experience as a student in the
UK.
Airport Pick-up
We can assist with meeting and greeting you at the airport through
our host family organiser. You will need to make sure you give your
correct flight details and your address in the UK.
Counselling, Welfare, Medical Services, Disability and
Advisory
It is important to us that you are given the support you need
whilst at Kingston College. We have advisors, counsellors and
nurses who together offer a comprehensive and professional service
to all students.
Working in the UK
International students are permitted to work up to 20 hours per
week (however we recommend a maxim of 15 hours per week for
students on full time programmes). There are many employment
opportunities in Kingston and many students find this helpful to
earn some pocket money and to become more familiar with British
life and people whilst they are living here.
Support after College
We hope to support you throughout your career and the International
Office are lucky enough to welcome back many former students who
visit to let us know what they are doing now and their achievements
after college. Many people recommend Kingston College, the
teaching staff and the International Office to their friends and
colleagues for the support they have had throughout their
courses.
International Society
International
students at the College are invited to become members of this
Society. Every year, in September, the Society organises a Welcome
Programme which is designed to help you adapt to your new life in
the UK. We will introduce you to the members of staff who will
support and help you throughout your time at College and who will
help to ensure that you get the most from your experience in the
UK. The Welcome Programme is also an opportunity for you to meet
other international students and make friends.
The Society offers many exciting activities and events throughout the year such as ten pin bowling, cinema and theatre trips and day trips to London and other places of interest. Field trips and excursions are offered to students throughout the College year. Some are specific to the course you are studying, others are recreational. In the past students have participated in residential trips to the Lake and Peak Districts in England, and further afield to various European cities.
