ACT ONE-ACT PLAYWRITING COMPETITION 2008-9
The standard of entry continues to be impressive, as is the range of work submitted.
The three very different plays which are this year’s winners are:
First Prize: (£500 and a guaranteed production):
APOCALYPSE ELEGIES by Tom Vickers (Peter Symonds College, Winchester)
Second Prize: (£250)
BATHROOM SINCERITIES by Victoria Richards (Hurtwood House, near Dorking)
Third prize: (£100)
REMEMBERING MICKEY by Darrel Draper (Havering College)
Two further plays were also HIGHLY COMMENDED:
CARRYING LARRY by Cameron Wauchope (Bancroft’s Senior School, Woodford Green)
D.I.D. by Ruth Ingamells (The Portsmouth Grammar School)
The intention is to produce all three prize-winning plays in the ACT at Kingston in the week beginning 29th March 2010. Details of production dates and times will be announced later.
The judges would like to thank all those who entered the competition, providing evidence of a good deal of writing talent in schools and colleges.
The 2009/10 competition will be formally launched in March 2010, with a closing date of September 1st 2010.
