Students and staff are delighted that Kingston College has been officially welcomed into the London 2012 Get Set network in recognition of its commitment to the Olympic and paralympic values.
The College's successful application to the official London 2012 Education Programme ensures students are now eligible for Ticketshare tickets for the London 2012 Olympic and paralympic Games.
Staff and students from the Sports Academies have been working tirelessly on a number of initiatives with the local community in preparation for the Olympics. These include a Sports Ambassador scheme where students work in local schools to encourage participation from non-sports students. Further initiatives will be rolled out later this year to ensure students across the entire College are involved in the Olympics.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic games awarded Kingston College a plaque and certificate to acknowledge our involvement in the London 2012 Education programme.
Lord Coe, chairman, of the London Organising Committee, said, 'I am proud to welcome Kingston College to the Get Set network for their exciting work around the Olympic values of friendship, excellence and respect, and the Paralympic values of inspiration, courage, determination and equality. By joining the network, Kingston College now has a golden opportunity to give some of their students the chance of a lifetime - tickets to see the greatest show on earth.'
