The Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a weekly payment worth up to £30 to assist students with everyday college costs, e.g. travel, books, field trips, equipment etc. Bonus payments are also payable if students remain on course and make good progress with their studies. To be eligible, students needs to be aged 16-18, have a household income of less than £30,810 per annum and meet certain criteria regarding hours of study and status in the country.
