Introduction to Music Sequencing Techniques

E3 Studio

Part Time (one Saturday)

As a musician, whatever style of music you are into, be it Grime, Dub Step or D&B, whether it is guitar-based rock or Girls Aloud, the opportunity to create your own compositions and backing tracks confidently and independently is becoming more and more a necessity in today's competitive music industry.

This one-day course will allow all students to learn how to create professional sounding, computer-generated tracks using industry-standard equipment, including:

  • Apple iMac Intel Core 2 Duo
  • Apple Logic Studio 8
  • M-Audio Controller Keyboards

Students will take away a finished stereo mix of their final product.

Standard sequencing techniques (MIDI tracks, Audio tracks, editing, quantising etc.) will be demonstrated and explained, as well as how to use them to get the best results for your music. Virtual mixing techniques will include the use of effects, stereo imaging, dynamic control and equalisation.

Student learning will be supported through the use of informative handouts, references to useful books and websites, and the up-to-date, in-depth industry knowledge of lecturers who regularly record, produce and perform.
