The course is intended for candidates who are interested in learning to pay attention in the present moment, to move out of `automatic pilot’ and create more mental space. In studying this course, techniques would be learnt which would help students of the Level 2 and Level 3 counselling courses.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, however a willingness to set aside 30 minutes daily practice for the duration of the course is essential.
Applicants will be invited for interview.
Course Duration
The course is run for two hours on a Monday (19:00-21:00) over an eight week period. The next start date will be in January 2012.

• Meditating on the breath, body and sounds
• Learning to observe how thoughts arise
• Meditating whilst moving
• The Three Minute Breathing Space – acknowledging, gathering, expanding
• Learning to respond rather than react
• Living in the present
• Dropping judgement – being compassionate
• Thought traps
• Home practice encourages mindfulness in simple activities
Progression
Successful completion of this course would prove valuable to anyone considering applying for the Level 2 and 3 Counselling courses.

The cost of this course is £185. The fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable. Places will be reserved on receipt of full payment, and will be on a first come, first served basis.
