Touch Typing

This course is intended for individuals who wish to learn/improve their touch-typing skills using e-learning resources, culminating in an official accredited touch-typing qualification.

Entry Requirement

Unable to touch-type or wanting to improve touch-typing speed.

Course Duration

Start date and days to be confirmed.  10 hours over two weeks (five hours per week).  10.00am -12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4.00pm.

Content

Through a series of ten comprehensive self-paced sessions, alternating between speed practice and accuracy lessons to improve overall keyboard skills, the course will enable participants, who are complete beginners, to touch-type using all their fingers at a speed greater than their handwriting speed whilst maintaining a degree of accuracy in excess of 90%, whereas experienced participants can use the sessions to vastly improve their existing skills.  Progress reports will be provided and a 20 minute test to attain an official accredited touch-typing qualification.

Option to take a test to gain a certificate of speed attainment:  Bronze Awards are 20 wpm with accuracy at 98% or above; Silver Awards are 40 wpm with accuracy at 98% or above; Gold Awards are 60 wpm with accuracy of 98% or above.

Progression

These technical skills are relevant to almost every activity that involves the use of the computer so an invaluable skill will be learned, which will increase your productivity and accuracy.
