This course will enable students to explore the different areas of the fashion, textiles and clothing industry, equipping them with practical and vocational skills, as well as develop their academic and creative potential. This course is based in Anstee House, a site in central Kingston designed for the needs of Fashion & Textiles students. This facility benefits from a spacious pattern cutting and garment construction studios alongside the latest industrial machinery.
Entry Requirements
The minimum requirements are either four GCSEs at grade C or above or a Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design. A portfolio of art, fashion and/or textile work is needed for interview. A successful interview and satisfactory reference are required.
International Entry Requirements: High school leaving certificate at C grade or above or other related comparable qualifications. A portfolio of art and design work and a satisfactory reference will be required. IELTS 5.0 or an equivalent English Language Certificate.

Content
This course will cover a variety of fashion related subjects such as Design, Garment Construction, Textiles, Computer Aided Design, Visual Communication, Marketing and Design History. In the second year students produce a portfolio of work suitable for their progression choice. Students develop academic skills in research, communication and ICT, as well as develop their knowledge of the subject as a whole.
Progression
The 180-credit BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fashion and Clothing allows students to progress to either Higher or Further Education in universities or colleges, industrial related internships, Apprenticeships or college leaver employment programmes. The college also takes part in a widening participation scheme with London College of Fashion.
Additional Information
Some materials are provided, however students are expected to provide their own specialist equipment. A materials list is provided during enrolment. There will also be occasional trips to exhibitions, which will incur some extra cost.
