This six week workshop aims to give an introduction to linocut and to build an understanding of the common techniques, processes and materials used in this discipline. The workshop will use practical demonstration and application of these methods to produce lino cut prints. Links will be made to other print-making practices.
Content
Week 1: Introduction to printmaking - linocut.
Week 2: Ideas discussion, considering the image and preparing the lino.
Week 3: Proofing and printing.
Week 4: Creating and repeating patterns; cards; designing a wallpaper sample or textile ideas.
Week 5: Ex Libris.
Week 6: Cutting and printing using different colours and paper.
During the final session there will be a group critique which will reflect on the work produced over the course and give you a chance to practice some presentation skills.
Duration
This is a six week course running on a Wednesday evening between 6pm-9pm, subject to sufficient numbers (minimum of 16). The next start date will be in the Autumn Term 2012, exact date to be confirmed.
