
This Foundation course has been offered at Kingston College, validated by Kingston University, for the past 14 years and is designed as a first step towards a degree at a UK university. In the past students have gone on to universities throughout the UK including Bristol, Edinburgh and Loughborough to study a wide range of subjects. The College has special links with local universities such as Kingston University and Royal Holloway. During the first term students are guided through UCAS process to apply to the universities of their choice. Please see our video.
Entry Requirements
In order to be accepted on the Foundation Course all students must be 17 or over and be able to provide documentation on the following:
- an application including what undergraduate programme they want to study at University eg. Business, IT, Journalism
- their completed Senior Secondary certificate (to a post GCSE level)
- an IELTS 5 (certificate) or equivalent (with 5.0 in the both the reading and writing sections)
- a reference from a current or recent school or employer
- a copy of their passport

Content
All students follow a core programme of Academic and General English, Study Skills, IT and Mathematics. These modules provide the student with the essential skills they need during their undergraduate degree. The foundation course also develops International students’ confidence by improving the language and skills needed to do research, write essays, make presentations and participate in lectures, seminars, discussions and debates.
In addition to this students take one of the following ‘options’ related to the course they wish to study at university.
- Business and Management
- Sociology and Psychology
- History
- Literature
- Law

The cost of the course £8900
The major advantage of the course is that successful students are guaranteed a place at Kingston University. Additionally, the course is also accepted by many other universities and students may wish to apply to these through UCAS.
Students on the Kingston University Foundation Certificate for International Students (KUFCIS) are entitled to Kingston University’s Alumni Bursary which gives them 10% off their undergraduate/graduate course fees at Kingston University.
