This part-time evening course lasting one year gives you a nationally recognised vocational qualification that enables you to work in a legal secretarial environment. In addition to developing your technical skills to a high level, you will specialise in legal procedures and practice. Our students have an outstanding record of individual achievement, recently receiving national and international Medals for Excellence. Entry Requirements
This is a skills-based course and you need to have relevant office experience (minimum 50 WPM keyboarding speed) and a good level of general education, especially English Language. A satisfactory reference is required.
Duration
The course lasts for one academic year and is part-time, one evening a week between 6.00pm-9.00pm, exact day to be confirmed.
Content
This will give you practical skills an understanding relevant to working in a legal office. You will develop your general office skills and become more technically proficient within the legal secretarial environment. You will cover Legal Word Processing and Working in the Legal Environment, as well as proofreading.
Coursework
You will complete this course through a series of practical assessments as well as a proofreading test.
Progression
This course prepares you to go straight into work in a legal secretarial role. Our former students currently work all over the UK in solicitors' offices, barristers’ chambers, law courts, local authorities, estate agents and the police.
Additional Information
We have excellent links with employers and our former students have gone on to find rewarding work in the legal field. The class takes place on a Wednesday evening. The course will run providing there is a sufficient class size.
