
This Certificate is offered as a one-year modular programme of study to suit existing VTCT students or mature students.
All units listed must be completed to achieve the full International qualification. Each unit may be completed individually to achieve a certificate of unit credit in that area. VTCT Units (or equivalent) already obtained by students will be credited towards the Beauty Specialist Certificate.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should be aged 19 or over at the start of this course. Minimum of three GCSEs at grade C or above to include a Science and a written and spoken English qualification (GCSE or equivalent).
Course Duration
One year part time, commencing September 2012, Mondays 9.30am - 4.30pm and ten non-consecutive Saturdays.
Content
Units are:
- Support health, safety, security and employment standards in the workplace.
- Provide facial skin care
- Prepare and apply make-up treatments (including strip and individual lashes)
- Prepare and apply eye treatments
- Apply manicure treatments
- Apply pedicure treatments
- Prepare and remove hair by waxing techniques (warm and hot wax)
- Implement good working relationship with clients and colleagues
- Skin tanning
This qualification involves practical and written assessments, case studies and external written examinations. Students will need to provide models for practical assessments.
Progression
Completion of the full Beauty Specialist Certificate will provide students with an internationally recognised qualification and enable students to pursue a career in salons, health clubs, cruise liners, etc. or progress onto the VTCT Level 3 Advanced Beauty Therapy.

Estimated Cost: £1,600.00 plus kit (approximately £400). Instalment arrangement available on tuition fee and kit, please enquire for details.
Funding may be available for applicants who are under 19 or in receipt of JSA/ESA. This applies to the tuition fee only. There is no provision for financial assistance with exam fees or kit. Your kit must be purchased before starting the course.
