
This course is designed to develop knowledge of cosmetic make-up, eye treatments and personal presentation. Emphasis is on practical work with appropriate theory instruction to gain a fundamental understanding of the subject.
Entry Requirements
Minimum three GCSEs grade C or above, English and Science preferred and a satisfactory reference.
Course Duration
This course runs on a Monday 6.30pm - 9.30pm plus five Saturdays over 24 weeks. The next start date September 2012.
Content
Skin types, face shapes, corrective, day and evening make-up, highlighting, shading and corrective techniques, cleansing products, eyelash tinting, eyebrow shaping, false lashes, eyelash perming, facial anatomy and physiology.
Units are:
- Apply and instruct on cosmetic make-up
- Provide lash and brow treatments
- Support employment standards
- Support health, safety and security in the workplace
The course leads to the Certificate in Cosmetic Make-up validated by VTCT. This qualification has national and international recognition and involves continual practical assessment, together with written assignments and written external examinations. Students will be required to produce a portfolio of work. Depending on the work required, students will need to provide a model. Final verification will take place during the day and students are expected to make themselves available.
Progression
VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Fashion and Photographic Make-Up, employment in industry as a Make-up Consultant.

Estimated Cost: £650 + kit (£250 approximately). Instalment arrangement available on tuition fee and kit, please enquire for details.
Funding may be available for applicants who are under 19 or in receipt of JSA/ESA. This applies to the tuition fee only. There is no provision for financial assistance with exam fees or kit. Your kit must be purchased before starting the course.
