Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CPCAB) Monday Day-time
This course is intended for candidates who want to learn and practise a range of counselling skills, either for personal or professional reasons. Counselling skills can be applied to a wide variety of situations and are highly relevant to a range of occupations and professions where interpersonal skills are important. This would include people working in teaching, in the caring professions or in organisations where client and customer service is important. Counselling skills can be equally valuable in personal, family and social situations. For many, this will be the first step towards becoming a counselling practitioner.

Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required. Some candidates, however, may have attended a short introductory course to counselling prior to applying for the Level 2 Certificate.Some level of IT skills will be required for writing and submitting weekly learning journals or assignments and collating a digital portfolio of work throughout the course.
The course content, whilst at entry level, will require that you are prepared to explore your own emotional world and behavioural patterns. This course is not recommended if you are feeling emotionally vulnerable or if you are experiencing life events that could impact on your mental health. It is important to consider emotional readiness before embarking on this programme.

Course Content
The course aims to:Increase the understanding of the counselling process and the skills involved.
Achieve competency in using a defined range of counselling skills.
Develop sensitivity and awareness about the process of change and growth.
Give understanding on the importance of using counselling skills ethically and within the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy's (BCAP) Ethical Framework for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Introduce students to the major approaches to counselling and their philosophical and practical assumptions about the nature of humankind.
Relate learning to students' own roles and work settings.

Additional Information
It is highly recommended for learners to undertake and complete 6 hours of personal therapy externally whilst completing this course.This course is part-time delivered at various times, thus there is flexibility in the schedule and you can choose the time that best fits with your life schedule.
The course takes place in a weekly five hours session for 18 weeks (a term and a half). It is delivered daytime (9:30am-2.30pm) or evenings (3.30pm-8:30pm) on Mondays or Wednesdays.
There are two start dates during the academic year, in September and February.

Tuition Fees are £1150.
Towards the end of the course learners will be externally assessed by CPCAB. The costs of appeals or re-sits for this external assessment will need to be met by learners.
Learners must complete the enrolment process and pay the tuition fee as directed by our Admissions Team at the time of enrolment to secure your place.
Please note that once this course has started tuition fees are non refundable.

Assessment Details
Assessment includes a weekly learning journal, a practical assessment of skills and an external "take home" exam set by CPCAB.
