The event, also open to the public, which will have the theme of Alternative Energy, Sustainability and Materials, will take place on Wednesday March 17 and Thursday March 18 to coincide with the nationwide week which celebrates science and engineering.
The college event, at the Penrhyn Road Centre, will feature models, displays and a competition to draw attention to a number of green issues that we all need to be aware of. The use of low carbon energy sources, recycling and modern materials are high focus, high growth and high on the list of government priorities for the future.
The focus of NSEW this year is ‘Earth’ and the Engineering & Science Faculty is charged with the letter ‘P’ in the College’s SHAPE agenda for enabling students to be able to make a ‘positive contribution’ to society.
Barbara Rogers, Assistant Dean of Faculty Engineering and Science at the College, said: “Our exhibition will highlight the key role that engineering and science have to play in leading innovation and progression for the future whilst safeguarding the world’s resources. As well as extending these broad themes into the full range of student activities that we do, we are specifically in the process of developing courses in alternative energy sources at the College.”
The event will take place from 10:30 to 16:30 each of the two days and there will be a sponsored prize for our competition. As well as Kingston College students, members of the general public will be welcome to come and view.
