This year's event will feature the work of BTEC National Diploma in Fashion and Clothing students who have been specially commissioned by Special Olympics Great Britain -- the country's largest provider of sports training and competition for the learning disabled - to design bespoke outfits for its Special Olympics Surrey group. The unique collaborative project, Beyond the Label will bring together the world of fashion and learning disability.
Makeup artist and stylist Armand Beasley, has been featured on GMTV (ITV), the Steve Wright Show (BBC Radio 2), How To Look Good Naked (Channel 4), Changing Faces (Living TV) and as a presenter on FakeOver (Discovery Health). He has worked with many celebrities on the Oscars as well as interviewing them about their style on the Red Carpet. He said: “As an Ambassador for Special Olympics Great Britain I've met some of the athletes and I know how much of a struggle it has been for them to find fashionable clothes that suit, fit and are appropriate for their chosen sport! I'm really excited about this project and can't wait to see what the students create for our team.”
The event will also feature work by students from the BA (Hons) Fashion and Textiles and by Year Two National Diploma Art and Design students.
Armand will be at the taking place in the Arthur Cotterell Theatre at 6.15pm and 7.30pm. Please note this is a ticket event only.
There is also a 5pm show for staff and students and no ticket is required for this.
