Hairdressing and Beauty students have been told to Get Creative for a Dreams and Nightmares Showcase in the College’s ACT Theatre on 31 January. The students will be styling hair and applying make up to Performing Arts students in aid of the pioneering new charity, My New Hair.
The students, who are studying for an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship in Hairdressing, Level 3 Make-Up Artistry and BTEC Extended Diploma in Dance Performing Arts, will work on the showcase as part of their qualifications.
The bolder the better
The students, who will have the opportunity to be as creative and bold as they can be, have formed two groups: one for Dreams, the other Nightmares, and will be using different hair techniques and added hair to show off their incredible talents.
Guest Speakers are Steve Fairfax from Fairfax Salon, West Byfleet in Surrey and Sandra Webb, renowned Afro Caribbean specialist and Hairdresser of the year in 2009 and 2010. Many local and regional salon owners will also be attending.
My New Hair, is a pioneering new charity founded by Trevor Sorbie who says: “My New Hair isn’t just about hair, it’s psychological medicine for women suffering from hair loss through illness and for many of the women I have seen, it’s the missing link in their treatment.”

The College is also holding a dedicated Apprenticeship Event on Wednesday 8 February, 4.30pm-7.30pm where visitors can speak to tutors and employers directly.
