The Employability School’s Careers Advisor, Sue Rathmell, and Workforce Development Section Head, James Cupper, this week attended the 2nd annual Roehampton Jobs and Skills Fair.

While meeting organiser Fleur Anderson, MP for Putney, Roehampton & Southfields, and the new Mayor of Wandsworth Cllr Jeremy Ambache (pictured above) they represented South Thames college at the event.

This was an excellent event, with a mix of different employers including the Metropolitan Police, St Georges NHS Trust, and the London Port Authority, to name but a few. Also in attendance were several external partners, including Wandsworth Work Match, Job Centre Plus and the Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce.

As well as being on had to promote the college open days, ACL courses and wider college provision, James was able to give advice about our excellent Workforce Training course to local residents, including SIA (Security Industry Authority) CCTV Operators and Door Supervisor courses while Sue gave some much-needed careers advice to the adults and young people who visited our table.

James also networked with several businesses and hopes to establish working links moving forward.

On attending, James commented: “This was a fantastic event to be a part of. I was able to talk to lots of potential learners, and it was great to gain insight from the employers. This will help us with ensuring our delivery remains relevant in the fast-changing local labour market. Big thanks to Fleur Anderson MP and her office for inviting us. and organising the event.”
