Interested in trying out the teaching profession without committing to long-term study? Do you work as a trainer and would like to gain a recognised training and development qualification? This is the course for you. It's also suitable if you currently do a small amount of teaching and want to expand your skill set.
This replaces our PTLLS (preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector) course.

Entry Requirements
You'll need to demonstrate good levels of written English. You'll also need a willingness to develop teaching approaches that are appropriate for adults with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. -
Course Content
This course introduces you to effective teaching methods. It features a variety of teaching and learning approaches including seminars, group work, peer teaching, tutorials and presentations. Course content includes:- Lesson planning
- Communication skills
- Resource development
- Different assessment methods
- Legislation in education
- Delivering your own 15 minute 'micro teach'

Progression Next Steps
Once you've achieved this award, you'll be in a much stronger position to apply for teaching hours in the further education and skills sector. You may also want to enrol on the DET/PGCE course and become a fully qualified teacher. -
Assessment Details
You'll build up a portfolio of assignments over the course. You'll also carry out a short session of teaching in class.
